Oalkley sets ball rolling for Colliers

HEANOR COLLIERS booked their place in the Jack Vickers Cup final after overcoming the challenge of ALLIANCE HEALTHCARE 4-1 in their semi-final tie.

Aaron Oakley had put them ahead but a volleyed reply from Luke Beardmore levelled things up before a Sam Smith penalty, Reece Wigley header and a strike from Matt Cruise finally settled matters.

CODNOR MINERS ARMS edged out DERBY ATHLETIC in their Kurburgring Bowl game but needed extra time to do so.

Kev Morrow and Matt Roberts were on the mark for Athletic, but the visitors took it on the strength of a Bobby Thomas goal and a couple from Matt Wilders.

All three games in MG Financial Services Division Onr finished all square.

In the top two encounter, Adam Bellamy (2) and Guy Taylor scored for SHIRLAND MW who were pegged back by WESTWOOD ROYAL OAK for whom David Farnsworth, Jamie Gittens and Shaun Gregory were on the score sheet.

RAILWAY (Alfreton) had established a two-goal cushion against RAINBOW INTERNATIONAL that they let slip; the game finishing 2-2. In fact, the visitors can consider themselves unfortunate not to have picked up all three points after a spirited rally. Matt James and Nathan Bettison got the goals for the home team, Nigel Haslam and Joe Bates replying for the visitors.

The other game saw Tom Bates scoring for SOUTH WINGFIELD and Craig Brookes tying things up for ALFRETON VICTORIA as the sides finished locked at 1-1.

On the evidence of their respective league positions, a close game might have been anticipated when HAYLOFT played host to HOLMEWOOD FC in Division Two.

However, the home team had no answer to the combination of the experience and guile of Stephan Adams and the youthful energy of his striking partner Justin Deakin, who each rattled in hat-tricks. Adams also drew the foul that ended up with his being barged over to win a penalty kick that centre back Shaun Deakin blasted home.

Ian McCaffrey had scored direct from a free kick but that and the last minute goal of substitute Luke Morledge proved to be no more than consolations as Holmewood strolled to a 7-2 victory.

BULLS HEAD failed to turn up for their scheduled game at NORMANTON VILLAGER.

In Division Three, AMBER ATHLETIC recorded a 5-0 win over DEVONSHIRE ARMS that brings the visitors’ goals against tally to 100. Shaun Meynell (2), substitute Paul King (2) and an own goal contributed to that unenviable total.

Brian Lavender got the goal that earned OUT OF TOWN a point in their 1-1 draw with NORMANTON UNITED.

Top met bottom as RIPLEY WHITE LION entertained HILCOTE MW; the league leaders easing to a 3-0 win courtesy of goals from Anthony Clarke, a Paul Hodgson screamer from 25 yards and Ross Winter.

A Shane Fazackerley hat-trick was the highlight as SOUTH NORMANTON BLUEBELL ran out 6-1 winners of their game against GENEROUS BRITON.

Steven Hallam, Kallen Jenkin and Dale Carline also scored for the home team; Rory McElaney getting his side’s consolation goal.
