New book keeps track of railway history
A new book gives a photographic account of the Midlands railway network of yesteryear.
The Lost Railway – The Midlands is the first book by British railway photographer Robert Day.
The picture above shows the platform at Matlock Train Station in its heyday.
The platform buildings date back to 1850.
The canopy of the building closest to the camera was cut back by British Rail for easy maintenance.
