Cage fighting is brutal and Chesterfield boasts one of the best battlers in the business.

Sam Boult, from Ashgate, has captured the British Amateur Welterweight title.

In the final at Doncaster Dome, the self-employed builder overcame the previously undefeated Jack Grant in the third round with an arm lock.

Sam’s victory was filmed by the Sky TV cameras and is due to be broadcast at a later date.

He also became the ISKA Welterweight champion by beating Rob Hardman in one minute and 58 seconds in York.

The two wins have made Sam, pictured above, the UK’s No 1 ranked amateur cage fighter.

The triumph took his proud record to 13-1 with his only defeat coming when he took to the ring against a heavier middleweight opponent.

Sam’s success has led him to the professional ranks and he is planning to have his first pro fight in the March.
