Nathan and Alicia strike gold


Congratulations to Chesterfield athletes Nathan Pentin and Alicia Barrett.

Both athletes struck gold in the recent Northern Championships, held at Hull.

Nathan triumphed in the U20 men’s pole vault, while Alicia added to her recent English schools’ title in the U15 girls 75 metres hurdles, just ahead of team mate Emma Schaanning who was placed second.

Emma also took the silver medal in the long jump, while Alicia took silver in the 100 meters. Ella Barrett took bronze in the U15 girls 200m.

Meanwhile in the U17 women’s competition, Tasmin Boam took the silver medal in the 3k.

In the U20 pole vault, there were further successes when Jordan Spolding came second in the men’s event with Vicky Price also taking silver in the women’s event.

In the National Junior League, there were individual wins from Nathan Pentin Pole Vault ‘A’ 4:23m (PB), High Jump ‘B’ 1:70m, Hammer ‘B’ 28:49m (PB), Javelin ‘B’ 37:69m (PB), Jordan Spolding Discus ‘B’ 29:51m, Lindsey Morgan ‘A’ 1500m 5:03min, Tasmin Boam ‘A’ 1500m S\C 5:28min, Lauren Davis-Beckett ‘B’ 1500m S\C 5.46min, Rebecca Herring ‘B’ Pole Vault 1.70m were not enough to stop a depleted Chesterfield U20 squad finishing in sixth place.
