Nath and Jord set for Exeter

Chesterfield AC athletes Nathan Pentin and Jordan Spolding have been selected by Derbyshire Schools’ to represent the county in the English Schools’ Combined Events Championships at Exeter on September 17/18, writes Frank Gorman.

Chesterfield will then be providing half of the team of four U17 men to contest the event, which sees athletes compete in eight disciplines over two days, which are, in order: 1st day - long jump, discus, javelin, 400m; 2nd day - 100mH, high jump, shot and 1500m.

Fourteen CDAC athletes were selected to represent Derbyshire AA in the inaugural Northern Athletics U15/17 Inter-County match at Leigh, Lancashire, in which ten counties competed.

As each county could put two in each event, if they wished, this exceeded the number of available lanes, so many track events were run as separate heats with the results amalgamated for scoring purposes.
