Ryde misses podium by a fraction of a second

Riding the CF Motorsport Pacedayz Tackdays 600cc Yamaha, Kyle had only done a small amount of testing a week or so prior to this event, at this undulating race circuit.

Kyle was third on the grid after qualifying, but on the very first bend, Kyle’s machine was struck from the side.

This mishap slightly unnerved him so early on in the race, but by the end of the lap he was up to eighth and battling with the experienced front running group.

By half race distance Kyle was swarming all over the trio of Collier, Lodge and Currie, eventually forcing Currie back into fifth position and then placing a lot of pressure on the very experienced James Lodge, a former adversary in the 125cc Championship and a two times Championship winner, of which Kyle was to follow in his footsteps in 2011.

Kyle had several attempts to get passed James and at one point after he had over took him, Kyle mistook an oil flag for a yellow flag, so actually allowed James to go by him again.

After all the pressure that Kyle placed Lodge under during the latter half of the race, the run up to Deer Leap must have felt rather deflating for Kyle, knowing that he had just missed out on a podium place by seven hundreds of a second!

His next outing on the Superstock Bike is on the World stage at the World Superbike meeting at Donington, during the Bank Holiday weekend of 23rd-25th May.

Kyle’s next British Championship round is at the East Anglia Circuit of Snetterton on the weekend of 13th-15th June.
