Kyle Ryde on shortlist for British Supersport rider of year award

Crack motorcycle racer Kyle Ryde has made the shortlist for one of the most prestigious awards of the year.

The 18-year-old Ryde, from Jacksdale, is one of 12 nominations for the 2015 Motorpoint British Supersport Rider of the Year.

Fans can cast their votes by logging on to the Bike Sports News (BSN) website, which says: “Even though Luke Stapleford was eventually crowned champion of the British Supersport series, he was run pretty hard in a lot of races, with stellar performances from Glenn Irwin, Kyle Ryde and Jake Dixon.”

Ryde finished his debut season in the championship in second place, riding for Pacedayz European Trackdays aboard a Yamaha YZF-R6. He also took part for the first time in a Supersport World Championship event as a wild-card rider in the Great Britain round at Donington Park.

In 2011, the became the youngest ever British 125cc champion and, in 2014, he was British Superstock 600 champion.
