Matlock ‘Ironman’ Ben comes 55th out of 2,000 competitors
An athlete from Matlock has produced an impressive display at the Ironman UK event in Bolton.
Ben Cartwright finished 55th overall out of 2,000 competitors in a time of 10hrs 23 minutes.
He completed the 2.4 mile swim in 1hr 18mins, the the 112-mile bike leg in 5hrs 47mins and the marathon run in 3hrs 10 mins - the ninth fastest run time of the day.
Cartwright, who currently ranks 14th in the country at his age group, is now hoping to improve on his time at the Ironman Wales event in September.
