League’s ‘Come and join us’ call

Weather washed out the Manor Pharmacy Matlock & District Football League programme again at the weekend as the games are now piling up as the championship reaches its crucial end-of-season climax.

Footballers are becoming increasingly frustrated by the conditions that have hammered the matches throughout the last two months.

But there’s good news as the League looks forward and is setting the target of creating two strong divisions next season with numerous fresh clubs looking to join a rejuvenated and strengthened set-up.

Secretary Jim Else is appealing to ‘new and unattached’ clubs to join the Matlock set-up which is gaining a reputation for the standard of football raised by well-organised clubs who are attracting great talent.

Clubs interested in joining can contacct Jim at secretary@matlockfootball.co.uk or at (01773) 833945.

Meanwhile, as plans are put in place for next season action continues on Saturday with a Cavendish Cup clash between Darley Dale Lions v Tansley.

Scheduled League matches include Shirland Miners Welfare v Wirksworth Albion, Woodthorpe v Matlock Town Youth, Black Hippo v Riddings Rovers and Laburnum Saints v The Kings Arms.
