League plans to rise from ashes next season

After 93 years of providing amateur Saturday football around Chesterfield there will be no football for adults during the 2011/2012 season.

Due to a number of clubs dropping out of the league for various reasons and, for the first time in memory no new clubs have applied to join, the remaining clubs felt that they were not in a position to take part.

The league would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have supported the League to date from the County FA, the referees, the club secretaries, players and committee members past and present.

However, the current committee is not giving up hope on the League and will be working diligently over the coming season to try to attract new clubs for the 2012/2013 season.

Indeed, this is an excellent opportunity for youth teams who are moving towards the adult leagues to create the nucleus of a much stronger adult league whereby they will be playing, in the main, against players of their own age and abilities.

With this in mind, club officials who have teams coming towards the end of their time in the youth leagues are welcome to contact the league to discuss and develop how the Chesterfield & District Amateur League can rise from the ashes and blossom once again.

Any prospective teams, or those seeking further information should contact the league secretary Karl White on 07743 863523.
