The Stanedge Golf Club gents invitation weekend was severely affected by high winds on Saturday that blew even stronger on Sunday on the course which is exposed at 1,000 feet above sea level.

Stanedge has won through to the last eight of the knock-out trophy event, sponsored by Spondon Trophies, with a 5-2 win over New Mills. Winners were Jim Carter, Roger Thorley, Les Pate, John Allsop and Derek Cooper.
In the annual challenge friendly match, first leg, against Chatsworth, Stanedge made good use of their home advantage with an overall 5-1 win. Chatsworth claimed their point with two halved matches.
