A north Derbyshire couple have played a big part in guiding England to a home international triumph.
Paul and Sue Sissons helped mastermind the England Ladies Fly Fishers emphatic victory over Scotland and Wales.
Paul is the team manager while Sue is an experienced angler, with many England appearances, who was a member of the winning team.
The competition was staged at Bewl Water in Kent and the England anglers had a total catch if 110lbs 3.5oz - more than double the total of second-placed Wales (55lb 1oz) and third-placed Scotland (50lb 4oz).
England’s Ladies landed 56 of the 114 fish caught on a day of wild weather conditions.
Having come fourth in Ireland two years ago, this spectacular victory follows last year’s gold at Llandegfedd for the England team.
Paul said: “I am so proud of the team and all they have achieved. We worked hard in training in difficult and changing conditions and this result is testament to the ladies’ dedication and commitment.’’
