Taws can return to action in a blaze of glory by landing the 32Red Handicap at Wolverhampton.
The four-year-old was kept busy by Rod Millman last year, racking up 11 runs but making significant strides in the process and progressing from a mark of 57 to a closing perch of 75.
Wins at Nottingham, Salisbury and Bath all advertised Taws’ ability with the latter victory allowing the Hernando filly to sign off a victorious note.
She had endured three luckless runs before switching up to two miles and a furlong and seeing out every yard in what probably only a modest heat.
Taws looked capable of even more in winning that day and although she has to overcome a reasonable absence, she gets a little bit of help under the conditions of this race and should be on the premises.
Arabian Oasis looks a likely type for Charlie Appleby in the Bet In Play At Coral Maiden Stakes.
He is bred to be a champion as a half-brother to St Leger winner Sixties Icon and out of an Oaks winner in Love Divine but clearly those kind of aspirations are long forgotten as he is now a gelding.
Arabian Oasis took a keen hold in both starts last term but his operation may well have curbed his enthusiasm a little and he can start to apply himself to the job in hand.
Appleby should also be on the mark with Hills And Dales in Lingfield’s 32Red.com Handicap.
He is not one of the stable’s star performers but the application of blinkers helped him get off the mark in a very average maiden and Appleby is not shooting too high here.
Clearing has four course-and-distance wins under her belt and she can make it five in the Unibet Offer Daily Jockey/Trainer Specials Handicap.
Jim Boyle’s runner likes to do it from the front and she again made every yard when seeing off Dishy Guru by a neck, with a 2lb rise for that win hardly insurmountable.
De Vous A Moi looks set to complete a hat-trick in the Surgo Construction Handicap Chase at Newcastle.
