Hope Valley Hawks rugby league players have been celebrating after winning the play-off title in their first-ever season.
The Derbyshire bravehearts travelled to Bromsgrove for the 3VSport.com Midlands Merit League Grand Final and emerged victorious by defeating Sleaford Spartans 72-36.
Spartans took an early lead but a defining five-minute spell just before half-time saw Hope Valley take a lead they would never lose.
The Hawks marched Sleaford up the field for five try hero Gethin Evans to land a sucker punch blow on the stroke of half time.
Other tries came from Connor Maskery, Gethin Evans 2, Rob Wells and Mike Shires 2. Further scores came from McGuigan and Boam.
The Hawks will be up and running from April next season but for those who fancy some rugby union the first games of the new season are on Saturday, September 3, with training on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6.45pm at Castleton Playing Fields, with Hope Valley running two teams this season.
