Calow skating star, Morgan Swales, has achieved success again by scooping another award.

This time she has won a bronze medal in the British Figure Skating Championships. The 14-year-old international figure skater, who attends Spinkhill’s Mount St Mary’s College, has enjoyed a series of successes over the last month.

First she enjoyed success in the advanced novice ladies category in the Crystal Skate awards held in Romania and won silver medal.

She was later placed fifth in the Welsh Championships. And now the teenager has beaten off tough national competition to gain the bronze medal at the championships held in Sheffield.

Early morning starts and a hard training schedule of six days a week, both on and off the ice before and after school, has paid off for Morgan.

Despite the fact she has only been skating since the age of nine, she is now ranked an impressive fourth out of 47 novice ladies in Great Britain.

Mum, Julie Swales, said: “I’m very proud of Morgan. She has worked extremely hard to achieve what she has done this year.”
