The Greens are in mean form for Matlock CC

Nottingham’s Chetwynd Barracks was the venue for Round 14 of the Notts & Derby CycloCross League on Saturday.

The event proved a resounding success for Matlock Cycling Club with riders of all ages doing particularly well.

In the U9s race, Holly Hoy emerged victorious in first place for the U9 Girls, completing seven laps in a blistering seven minutes and 48 seconds, with Harriet Limb close on her tail in second place.

For the boys, Ben Mellor achieved third position, completing seven laps in seven minutes and 33 seconds, with team mates Sam Hadfield and Tom Woolf in 12th and 19th places respectively.

For the U12 Girls, Matlock’s Sarah Briggs bagged first place, completing 13 laps of the course in just over 15 minutes and nine seconds, with team mate Amelie Wayte just 20 seconds behind in second place, and Libby Smith coming 5th.

Matlock CC’s success continued in the youth race, with Ellie Smith victorious in first place for the U14 Girls.

Will Gregory completed in second place for the U16 boys and John Webster finished third in the U14 Boys category.

Star billing once again went to Arthur Green who finished in first place in the junior men’s category.

There was more success for the Green family with Chris Green coming first in the men’s 45 category, while Terence Taylor who bagged another first position for Matlock, this time in the Men’s V65 category.

Other Matlock veterans also did well, with Martin Stocks, Chris Watts and Tim Kniveton each achieving fourth place in the MV50, MV55 and MV60 categories respectively, and Christine Howard coming third in the women’s veterans category.

It’s all still to play for in next Saturday’s Round 15 event at Broxtowe Country Park in Nottingham.
