Gould and White top the list in Matlock CC’s time trials

Road closures on the A6 meant Matlock CC’s Tuesday night ten-mile time-trial had to be shortened slightly with the course shortened to around 8.5 miles.

A good turnout of 19 riders took part in the pleasant conditions with a favourable wind.

Patrick Gould was once again the fastest rider on the night, recording a time of 18 minutes and six seconds to finish 12 seconds clear of local Buzz Cycles rider Keiron Tennyson.

Third place went to the ever-improving Andy Woolf who recorded a time of 18 minutes and 32 seconds.

Caroline Rick was the fastest female rider, recording a time of 25 minutes and 33 seconds, whilst Richard Thoday rode his Penny Farthing again on the course, recording a sub-30 minute ride with 28:23.

The weather put many off from taking part in Matlock Cycling Club’s Hilly time-trial on Thursday night due to the persistent rain that fell in the afternoon.

However, by the start time, the rain had stopped and the favourable south westerly wind blew the seven riders who took part up the hill, making for fast times.

Kevin White was once again victorious, outgunning Chris Green in to second place by 21 seconds. White recorded a time of 18:39 whilst Green finished on 19:00.

Third place went to John Johnston who is continuing to improve, finishing in a superb seasons best time of 19:33.

Youngster Cameron Orr finished in fourth place, also with a new personal best time of 19:40.

Chris Green has now extended his lead in the season-long points series, and now has a 82 point advantage from second placed rider John Johnston.

Green has amassed 380 points from 22 events, with John Johnston having 298 points from 24 events.
