Golf club set to unveil brand new driving range

Matlock Golf Club is all set to unveil a new floodlit driving range and custom fitting centre at a special Open Day on September 15.

The driving range will add to the high quality existing practice facilities the club already has in place, with ten covered individual practice bays including left and right handed mats and bay seating, a double teaching and custom fitting room and a 6,000 capacity automatic ball machine

Club secretary and manager Mick Wain said: “When most golf clubs in the area and the country are struggling to maintain membership levels, this is a fantastic resource development achievement by the club.

“It will further enable us, through our club professional Christian Goodman, to enhance established links with schools in the area. The club is also committed to developing a Matlock Golf Club Academy to enable junior players to gain expertise and excel.

“Christian will manage the custom fitting centre as well as providing coaching, and is now an authorised fitter for Callaway, Cobra and Ping.”

The main sponsor of the driving range will be Gordon Lamb Limited, whilst the individual practice bays have also been sponsored by Peak Fireplaces, William Twigg Ltd, HA Briddon Ltd, Lime Grove Dental Care, Proctor Car Sales, Global Brands and Maggie Mays (Sheffield). Gordon Lamb will also sponsor scorecards for the forthcoming year.

The driving range will provide all year round practice facilities and be open seven days a week, from 8am to 9pm,and will be floodlit as required.

The club will be holding an Open Day on Sunday, September 15 from 10am to 4pm for people who are interested in becoming playing or driving range members, with separate driving range membership available.
