Eighty Matlock Golf Club members were in all corners of the course bright and early on Saturday morning ready for the eight o’clock shot gun start of the Captains Charity Am Am.
On a cold but clear morning the 20 teams of four were raising monies for the Matlock Captains Ian Waite and Mel Elton chosen 2015 charity, Fairplay - a Chesterfield based charity that supports disabled children and young adults across North Derbyshire.
With the two best scores to count an each hole a fine total of 94 points gained first place for the team of Neil Fennah, Andrew Millward, Mark Gebbie and Chris Beakey; in second place with 88 points were the team of Dave Revell, Graham Dicken, Martin Coupe and Trevor Taylor.
After their exertions on the course the golfers returned to the clubhouse for a welcome midday brunch followed by the prize presentation and the news that over £200 had been raised for the charity.
Matlock Golf Club secretary Caroline Hardy braved below freezing temperatures and driving rain to compete in the Winter Warriors Competition at Donnington Park. She also raised £600 for Fairplay.
