Gill header wins Byron for Nags

In the first non-league final to be played at Chesterfield FC’s B2net Stadium, Nags Head and Hopflower put on a superb display and were a true credit to the Chesterfield Amateur League and advert for new teams.

Nags got off to a terrific start when Dave Marshall scored in the second minute.

The first-half ended with Nags a goal to the good.

From the whistle to restart the game Hopflower piled on the pressure for an equaliser however, they had to wait until the 75th minute to see their efforts rewarded.

With no further score in normal time the game entered extra time.

Nags again had a good opportunity in the first minutes but they were unable to take the chance that opened up. Instead Hopflower broke away and went 2-1 up.

Nags showed some great spirit and Craig Frampton levelled it just before half-time.

Both sides then went all out for the winner, which came in 117th min, courtesy of a superb header from Steffan Gill, dispatching a corner kick into the net.

Mention must be made to referee Dave Raspin who had an excellent game.

Also congratulation to All Inn who successfully defended their League title, full table below.
