A Chesterfield school teacher broke into the top 20 while on international duty for Great Britain at the European Championships.
Cate Read, a science teacher at Hasland Hall Community School, competed in the middle distance Half Challenge from Barcelona to Maresme triathlon in Calella, Spain.
The 43-year-old, from Wardlow, has been training for and competing in triathlons for the past three years.
She came a very credible 11th place in her age group of international athletes and was the third woman out of the sea in the swimming segment from an entry of around 100 female competitors.
Cate covered the 1.9 kilometres in 31 minutes and three seconds.
She completed the 112.9 kms challenge, which included 1.9 kms swim; 90 kms bike; 21 kms run, in 6:27.27.
The overall winner of the Half Challenge amongst the elite male athletes was Javier Gómez Noya (Spain).
British triathlete Richie Nicholls came fifth and Ironman World Champion Chris McCormack (Australia) in sixth.
Camilla Pederson (Denmark) was fastest Elite female.
