And Wilson says he was happy with what he saw from Chesterfield against his former side.

“It was a very good performance,” he said.

“Early on Swindon showed what they can do on the ball and we expected that, but we made sure we were disciplined at the back and had to maintain that throughout.

“In the end they had very few chances thanks to our ability to play with our heads rather than with brawn which is what was required today.

“If there’s to be any complaints from me it’s that we could have scored a few more goals as their keeper had a superb game, but overall I’m happy with the display.”

Wilson is now hoping to see more of the same from his players as they aim to build on Saturday’s win.

He said: “If we can be as tight as we were today against a very good team then we’ll do well. It was crucial to get a home win too as the home form last season was awful which put a lot of pressure on us away from home, so if we can put that right we’ll hopefully be challenging at the top end of the table.”
