There’s not a lot the veteran manager won’t have seen in his career but it’s not his experience that is keeping him buoyed after just one win in 11 league games – it’s those who continue to offer their support.

Ahead of another tough assignment tomorrow at Charlton, Wilson said: “You always get a reaction when teams are not winning games. It’s a natural thing.

“But what we have at the club at this moment in time is an understanding of the situation.

“People understand the situation we’re in, what we’re having to do and what we’re having to deal with.

“That in itself is brilliant from my point of view. Yes there’ll be frustration and there’ll be a boo here and there, that’s only natural, but overall we’ll come through it with them and when we do we’ll be stronger.

“The most positive thing from my point of view is that the fans understand.”

The Spireites have failed to hit the net in their last four outings and last tasted victory on 17th September.

They’re yet to win away from home in League One this season.

But he insists that’s not diminishing his enjoyment of life at the Proact.

“Some will want a scapegoat, they’ll want my head, they’ll want the chairman’s head, they’ll want any head they can get. But that’s not always the answer,” he said.

“(Am I enjoying it?) very much so, even better now, people find their true colours now don’t they?”

Wilson will be without the suspended centre-half Tom Anderson and right-back Paul McGinn tomorrow, the Scot having reinjured his hamstring last week.

Striker Kristian Dennis hopes to be fit and available for selection following a slight calf injury sustained in the defeat by Fleetwood.
