Why Chesterfield midfielder Sam Wedgbury was not included in squad against Wrexham
John Pemberton has explained why midfielder Sam Wedgbury was left out of the matchday squad against Wrexham.
The 30-year-old was not included in the 16 against the Red Dragons despite starting all of Pemberton’s previous four matches.
The Spireites caretaker said he opted to leave Wedgbury out so he had a good balance of substitutes to choose from.
"I have had to leave people out - people like Wedgbury - and they have accepted it in the right manner. They are fully behind the team.
"I have to leave people out because I need to get the balance of the subs right.
"Having Robbie Weir and Wedgbury on the bench today is not the right thing to do.
"I have to leave people out - they might play one week - and I have to leave them out if I want to change it.
"We are slowly pulling together in the right direction."
