Wanderers blown away by storming Hurricanes

Once again the NAPIT-sponsored Chesterfield & District Sunday Football League fixture list was decimated by the weather, with just four of the scheduled games going ahead.

In TWO Creswell Black Diamond Reserves took on Brampton Rovers JMA at Fox Green and just shaded a closely fought contest by three goals to two. Sean Marsden was on target twice for the winners whilst Josh Greveson added goal number three.

In FIVE Glapwell Gladiators bounced back from a heavy defeat seven days earlier in style as goals from Dave Canning, Jack Crowder and Ben Rainsford-Lowe secured them a 3-1 victory over Grassmoor Sports.

Furnace Hill Hurricanes blew away opponents Woodthorpe Wanderers as Pete Stubley’s five goal salvo plus goals from Ian Holmes, Dave O’Hare, Neil Hollingworth, Tom Toddington and an own goal saw them win 10-1 in SIX. Also in this division Palterton Sporting Club took on Hasland WMC who beat them by three goals to one.

There was one other game involving a NAPIT side and it took place in the Derbyshire Junior Sunday Cup and congratulations go to Britannia Rose who, thanks to goals from Harry Rickets, Sam Allcock and Callum Featherstone beat Tappers FC by three goals to one to reach the semi finals of the competition.
