Law is one of five coaches nominated for the Manager of the Year award at the National Game Awards for his work at the Impact Arena this season.

The awards, which take place on 13th May at Fulham’s Craven Cottage stadium, celebrate the great and good of the non-League game.

The Reds have had a difficult year with financial trouble and a points deduction threatening to derail any hopes of promotion, but Law has managed to steer his side up to third in the Skrill Premier.

The other nominees are Luton Town’s John Still, Cambridge United’s Richard Money, Gateshead’s Gary Mills and Wealdstone’s Gordon Bartlett.

But given the issues Law has faced this season, Barnet director of football Fairclough believes his success puts him right up there for the award.

“This season has seen the emergence of some senior warriors like John Still and Richard Money, who have still got massive aspirations and desire,” said Fairclough, who is an ambassador for the 11th annual awards.

“Everyone knows that Alfreton took a big hit with their wage structure and went part-time, but rather than complain, Nicky Law has just got on with it, used the transfer and loan market very astutely and everyone’s been saying as the season progresses, ‘They won’t be there at the end of the season’.

“But guess what – 10 games to go and they are right in the thick of it with a real chance.”
