In fact the last time they saw the striker in action, he was their tormentor in chief.

In 2012 the Welshman netted a hat-trick, including a spot-kick, for Sheffield United in a 4-1 rout of the Spireites.

That game was towards the end of the 2011/12 season at Bramall Lane.

Earlier in the season he bagged the winner in a 1-0 Blades victory at the Proact.

His four strikes against Chesterfield helped towards his impressive 35-goal haul that season, his last competitive campaign.

Evans joined the Spireites yesterday on a one-year deal with an option for a second year at the Proact.

He will face a retrial over rape allegations in October.
