He said: “I would not be worried about bringing Tyson back - I think you have seen what he can do.

“I think anybody who is fortunate enough to get him will certainly have an asset.”

Goalkeeper Fitzsimons, 26, was signed to provide competition to Shwan Jalal and only played 45 minutes for Town in the away win at Chorley in March.

His loan spell will mostly be remembered for when he saved a penalty against Chesterfield after being recalled by County before rejoining Town again just a couple of days later.

Full-back Tootle, 29, was brought in by former manager John Sheridan at the end of November and he made three consecutive starts before suffering a serious ankle injury against Yeovil and he could not force his way back into the team once he had recovered.

County said boss Neal Ardley has selected a 24-man squad to prepare for playing the National League play-offs if they go ahead with Tyson, Tootle, Fitzsimons not part of his plans.

Posting on social media, Tootle said he will always be “forever hurt” by County’s relegation from the Football League in 2019 and that this year had been a “horrible way to depart.”

He added: “There are a lot of things I would like to say but I don’t want to seem bitter about this season just gone. I’ll take it like a man and pick myself back up.”

While Fitzsimons said: “The last 18 months of my time here I feel has been the most hardest and challenging in my career so far for many reasons.

“Given all of this year I am now ready both physically for my next challenge wherever it will be.”
