"They have both got something to offer" - Chesterfield duo sign new contracts

Smith, 33, and Hollis, 27, have joined striker Tom Denton in extending their stay at the Technique Stadium for at least another year.

Centre-back Hollis made 32 appearances for the Spireites last season, while Smith made 30.

John Pemberton’s squad is now beginning to take shape following the signing of Nathan Tyson, Milan Butterfield and Jordan Cropper earlier in the week.

On the duo signing, John Pemberton said: "I judge players on what they have done for me and in the games I've been involved with, they've been good. They have both got something to offer us.

"We have only lost two games over two spells during my time as manager here and they have both made a contribution, including being a huge part of making sure we have a good dressing room, which is so important."
