“First half we’d pretty much got it sorted, it was just a different team that came out in the second half.

“I think Liam Grimshaw should have never been on the pitch. It’s typical Chesterfield, they throw it away. It is very doubtful now that we will avoid relegation.”

Fellow fan Alan, 57, from Newcastle-Under-Lyme, blamed the substitutes fro the defeat.

He said: “The substitutions changed the game, every substitute who came on contributed absolutely nothing. We were pressing them from the front and as soon as the subs came on we just conceded possession.”

Alan also pinpointed the referee’s decision to send Tom Anderson off for a foul in the penalty area before the Bury fight back as a key factor.

He added: “The sending off changed the game, how it was a red card I don’t know. It was a foul, but they were looking for penalties all of the second half. We’ve got no chance of staying up.”
