The Ched Evans story was always going to divide opinions.

I am not ashamed to admit that when he was first convicted I believed justice was served.

But a long legal battle saw a conviction quashed.

I was shocked to see our club sign him but I think it was a huge act of bravery and one I support.

This is about rehabilitating a man back in to the career he had worked so hard to carve for himself.

This is 2016, a world where second chances are okay.

People have a right to think it’s bad association for the club but what happens if he’s cleared, returns to the form we all envied and Chesterfield FC rebuilt an innocent man’s life - what better press could the club want?

Welcome on board Ched.
