Charlie Raglan will undergo the surgeon’s knife this week to resolve a hernia problem which has plagued the young centre-half for the past month.

The 22-year-old has made 20 appearances for the Spireites in League One this season but he is now expected to be sidelined for at least four weeks.

Head of sports science and medicine Rodger Wylde said: “After discovering the problem we had to decide whether to operate on the area now and fix it or try to wait it out until later.

“We found that the injury was deteriorating and with fresh cover brought into the squad this week it was decided to go ahead with the procedure now.

“Post-op you would normally expect a four week recovery time and that’s the prognosis for Charlie’s injury.”

It follows the news Ian Evatt will be out for a further month at least with a niggling Achilles injury.
