Last week Spireites boss Danny Wilson said the trial would have no impact on Evans’ role at the club, presumably due to the Welshman’s current injury status.

A heel problem is expected to keep him out of competitive action for another three weeks or so and his trial is scheduled to last two weeks.

Chesterfield have been keen to keep the frontman out of the limelight, making him unavailable for interview since his summer signing.
