Selston flew out of the blocks and went one up after eight minutes when Carl Moore curled a free-kick home.

The home side kept up the pressure and just a minute later Cooke was again involved when he broke through wide right and squared for Tom Widdowson to make it 2-0 to the Parishioners.

The Saints had hardly been able to get their breath but did now start to get a foot hold in the game and kept the home side quiet for a time.

However, on the 30 minute mark Sean Gregory split the away defence with a great ball and Wayne Cooke made his third decisive impact on the game striking first time from 25 yards and beating the keeper to make it 3-0.

Selston’s skipper was again influential from the right wing, winning the ball in the right back spot, advancing beyond two players before sliding a ball into the right hand channel for Carl Moore.

The home side’s number nine timed a delightful chip from fully 25 yards to make it four.

The visiting team looked as if they would fold completely at this point and Ben Moore made it 5-0 on 41 minutes.

Holbrook held out for the remaining few minutes of the half and came out after the break the visitors looking more determined and organised.

However Selston did begin to over play somewhat and, at times, looked for the spectacular rather than the simple and effective.

Selston pressed but Holbrook held firm and the score remained the same when Cooke and Gregory were replaced by Aaron Brady and Steve Radzynski on the hour mark.

The two introduced took up the striking berths with Carl Moore slotting into midfield alongside Joe Riley.

The big Scot, Radzynski made an immediate impact latching onto a loose ball from the Holbrook defence and advanced on the Holbrook goal, but his last touch allowed Waddington a half chance and the visiting keeper made a good save.

Dominic Airey replaced Joe Riley on 69 minutes with Ben Moore dropping into midfield and Airey going wide right.

Selston immediately attempted to use the width of Airey, with him occupying the slightly better wing, surface wise and he delivered several dangerous balls into the box.

Neither Brady nor Radzynski could capitalise. Tom Widdowson also had great success on the rather stickier left wing under the George Elliot stand.

The young Selston winger made several excellent forays into the final third but his final ball was slightly lacking.

Radzynski and Brady had efforts blocked following one Widdowson ball in and the Holbrook defence managed to clear the danger.

On 86 minutes Brady made it 6-0 after good work down the left by Widdowsom.

Selston’s winning league run now stretches to nine games, leaving them second in the table and with games in hand on all top five teams.
