Retford FC inflict second successive home defeat on Glapwell

Glapwell suffered a second successive home defeat as they went down 4-2 to Retford FC.

Glapwell started well and took the lead after only three minutes when Sam Bartram slotted home a penalty after Tom Norris was bought down in the area. Retford’s front two were the difference throughout and Arron Blakey levelled with a decent finish.

The visitors turned the game on its head when Will Tomlinson held off Tom Robley before finishing well.

Glapwell levelled before the break, though, when Adam Kimberley turned a defender inside out before finishing brilliantly into the top corner.

But the game was lost in the three minutes before the break as Tomlinson added two more to complete his hat-trick.

The first of those was just seconds after Glapwell’s equaliser when a howler at the back allowed Tomlinson a simple tap-in before on the stroke of half-time, Blakey showed great pace and strength down the left and he pulled the ball back to Tomlinson who, again, tapped home. Glapwell were much the better side in the second half and had numerous chances to get themselves back in it but unfortunately they couldn’t convert any of them.
