In what was a very end-to-end game, it was Staveley who drew first blood as Thomas Ellis put the visitors ahead in the tenth minute. An inswinging cross found the head of Ellis who found the back of the net to put Welfare ahead.

Worksop should have levelled soon afterwards when former Staveley star Adam Scott’s fine run down the left ended with a cross which was inches from being turned home.

However, in the 35th minute, in-form Worksop striker Kyle Jordan pounced on a goalkeeping mistake from Lewis Naylor to level the scores, Naylor not getting a strong hand to a long throw into the Welfare box and Jordan able to score from five yards out.

The second-half saw Jordan go through on goal on 55 minutes but after rounding Naylor he couldn’t hit the target.

Leon Loftus forced a good save from Naylor soon afterwards, while Staveley’s Ashley Ransom crossed for Ellis who blazed over from ten yards.

Further chances went begging at both ends, Ellis in particular a danger throughout, but the points were ultimately shared.
