REF WATCH: Red cards galore for Mr Sarginson ahead of Swindon v Chesterfield

Saturday's referee is a man who has dished out red cards galore so far this season.

Chris Sarginson has shown the red card eight times already in the 2016/17 campaign, including a hat-trick last weekend in the game between Peterborough United and Rochdale.

He’s presided over 11 League One fixtures and in those issued 39 cautions and five reds.

In all competitions he’s had the yellow card out a total of 94 times.

He’s only refereed Chesterfield once so far this season, back in November when Sheffield United thumped them 4-1 at the Proact.

Last season he was the man in the middle when the Spireites confirmed their League One status with a 3-0 victory over Bury.

Sarginson has only ever dismissed one Town player in the 14 Spireites games he’s taken charge of.

In the 2009/10 FA Cup 3-1 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth he showed Mark Little two yellows.

Chesterfield have won six times with Sarginson in charge and lost eight.

He’s refereed Saturday’s opponents Swindon 10 times, the Robins winning four and drawing two of those.

Sarginson was in charge when Swindon lost 3-1 to Eastleigh in the FA Cup this season. Chesterfield have only taken 50 cards this season, 49 of those yellow.

Only two sides have a better disciplinary record in the league.

Swindon, however, have amassed a staggering 91 – the division’s joint highest tally, alongside Bury.

The Robins have had six red cards in League One action.
