Recap: Chesterfield and Bromley share points in entertaining League Two draw
Our reporter Liam Norcliffe is at the game and will bring you all the build-up, team news and updates.
FT: Bromley 2 v 2 Chesterfield: LIVE UPDATES (7.45pm)
Boot in the thick of it again
This time the Town stopper looses his footing, a shot comes in, but he recovers to get it behind for a corner. A couple of nervy minutes for Boot.
Let off
Boot wanted too much time on the ball on the edge of the box and Cheek closed him down to make a block, there was some panic in the ranks, but Dunkley came across and his team-mate out of jail. Phew.
Chance for Colclough
Oldaker sends him clear down the left, he worked his way into the box, but his shot was deflected behind for a corner. Great vision from Oldaker.
Sowumni
Hits the side-netting with a header at the back post from another corner. The centre-half is a giant and he got up well there.
GOAL!!! 1-1
GRIGG!!!
Instant equaliser for Chesterfield, 1-1. It's a well-worked move, ending with Naylor crossing for Grigg to finish from close-range.
Chance for Bromley
Sowumni drags a shot wide after Chesterfield failed to clear a corner.
Bromley’s game plan is clearly centered on crosses into the box and set-pieces, which is no surprise.
Goal for Bromley: 1-0
The hosts take the lead on 14 minutes and it’s Olomola who heads in the far post after a deep cross from the right from Imray.
A shame for Chesterfield because they had started well.
Bright start
Chesterfield have started on the front-foot in this first six-seven minutes. They are yet to come under any pressure.
Chance!
Jacobs strikes wide inside the area after Colclough got the better of Imray down the left.
Perhaps didn’t make the most of that.
Here come the teams!
It’s a miserable night weather-wise but I’m pleased to report that the rain has stopped and we are all good to go here at Hayes Lane, which now had a grass pitch, rather than the plastic surface they have had in recent years.
Stay tuned as we bring you all the key action!
Chesterfield team news confirmed - five changes
Paul Cook makes five changes from the win against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.
IN: Daley-Campbell, Grimes, Jacobs, Colclough, Grigg.
OUT: Tanton, Araujo, Dobra, Markanday, Madden.
4-2-3-1: Boot; Daley-Campbell, Dunkley, Grimes, Gordon; Oldaker, Naylor; Mandeville, Jacobs, Colclough; Grigg.
Subs: Thompson, Williams, Metcalfe, Banks, Dobra, Berry, Madden.
Goals galore
Chesterfield lost 4-3 at Hayes Lane back in February with Michael Cheek notching a hat-trick.
The Spireites also lost 4-2 down there in 2022.
Their only win at Hayes Lane came in 2021 during covid when the Blues secured a 2-1 victiory thanks to goals from Jack Clarke and George Carline.
Today's opponents
Have signed former Arsenal and England defender Carl Jenkinson, 32.
Jenkinson worked with manager Andy Woodman when he was at Charlton Athletic and they link-up again.
Our predicted Spireites line-ip
Boot; Daley-Campbell, Dunkley, Grimes, Gordon; Oldaker, Naylor; Markanday, Mandeville, Berry; Grigg.
Subs: Thompson, Araujo, Banks, Metcalfe, Dobra Colclough, Madden.
Spireites injury news
Devan Tanton (knock) will be assessed after coming off at half-time against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday. Harvey Araujo needed stitches in a head wound he suffered at the weekend so he too will be checked on.
Bromley
Tonight’s opponents, who were of course promoted with Chesterfield last season, are 18th with two wins, two draws and four defeats. However, after winning their first two games, they have’t won any of their last six.
They drew 1-1 at home to MK Dons on Saturday but have already lost twice at Hayes Lane against Crewe and Notts County.
