In my opinion, we have turned the corner now.

James Rowe has wasted no time in identifying where we needed to strengthen the team and he is working wonders so far.

Five players in and three out over the course of two weeks and Chesterfield are a different side.

The Blues now dominate the midfield rather than conceding territory and if they keep this up, a promotion challenge could be a possibility.

So who is hat-trick hero Akwase Asante? Many may not realise that he’s Dutch and was born in Amsterdam to Ghanian parents, he never quite made it at Birmingham City and has been round the clubs. Shrewsbury and Northampton most notably in the Football League but found his level really at Solihull Moors where he scored 28, then grabbed 22 for Chester and scored eight in nine for Gloucester before he joined Rowe at the Technique Stadium.

A central midfielder who can boss the game is the player we have been missing for the last six seasons or so, and Tom Whelan fits the bill. He looks the part.

The fantastic fundraising by the fans shows the support is still there when we see a glimmer of decent football.

I can’t think of Chesterfield being worried about playing anyone in this division, once we get fans back in the ground we could be ready to the good times roll again.
