PREVIEW: Facts, stats and dangermen as Chesterfield visit a Coventry side '˜growing in confidence'

Coventry, on the other hand, are unbeaten in three league games and have picked themselves up from the bottom of the table to sit 19th.

At home, they’re unbeaten in 10 outings.

Andy Turner, football writer at the Coventry Telegraph, says interim manager Mark Venus has steadied the ship at the Ricoh Arena.

“City are playing very well at the moment and confidence growing with every game,” he said.

“Tony Mowbray made wholesale changes in the summer and it has taken them time to gel, and loan players time to adapt to League One.

“Even during their 10 game winless run at the start of the season, that resulted in Mowbray leaving, they weren’t playing that badly – they just couldn’t find the back of the net and made mistakes at the back that cost them.

“Venus appears to have addressed those concerns and in his six games in charge has won four, drawn one and lost one.”

City favour an attacking style of play and are one of the few teams in League One who like to play out from the back.

In terms of dangermen, they have players in form in several areas.

Turner said: “City have a lot of technical players and the philosophy is the same as under Mowbray, passing and attacking football.

“Stand-in skipper and centre-half Jordan Willis has been man of the match in the last two games in a much tighter back four since the trip to Charlton.

“Box-to-box Gael Bigirimana has been outstanding so far this season in an effective three-man midfield while up top Ruben Lameiras has been very effective with his skill and tricky feet.

“Centre-forward Dan Agyei provides a physical presence, leads the line well and holds up the ball and Marvin Sordell’s overall contribution has been excellent without getting the goals he’d have liked.”

Turner predicts a 4-3-3 formation for Coventry and although there’s a slight question mark over the fitness of Andy Rose, this is how he expects the Sky Blues to line up: Burge; Sterry, Willis, Turnbull, Page; Rose, Stevenson, Bigirimana; Lameiras, Agyei, Sordell.

He added: “Rose came off 20 mins from the end at Walsall on Sat with a thigh injury but he played it down in his post match interview and said he’d be fine to play tomorrow night.”

Chesterfield have failed to pick up a win in their last four outings against Coventry City and lost 1-0 in the corresponding fixture last season.

A 1-0 defeat tomorrow night would certainly be a nightmare scenario for Town, who have lost four of the last five to that very scoreline.
