Orrell rejects Spireites offer in favour of Hartlepool move

Teenage striker Jake Orrell has rejected a new contract from Chesterfield and opted to join League Two Hartlepool United.

The youngster was one of three players offered new deals by the Spireites at the end of the season.

He started just once for Chesterfield last term, his first as a professional having been given a contract by then boss Dean Saunders.

Orrell, who also made three appearances off the bench, will be joined at his new club by younger brother Lewis who has signed for the Pools youth team.

The 18-year-old hails from the North East and began his career in Sunderland’s academy before ending up at Gateshead, before his move to the Proact last summer.
