The hosts had the better of the opening 20 minutes and hit the post through Connell Rawlinson’s header and then Enzio Boldewijn rattled the crossbar with a free-kick from the edge of the box.

The Spireites settled into the game and had a great opportunity to take the lead five minutes before the break when Alex Lacey pulled down David Buchanan in the box.

But Boden, who has not scored since November 30, saw his soft spot-kick saved comfortably by ex-Town loanee Ross Fitzsimons.

The Magpies punished the away side after the break with Boldewijn firing in from 25 yards on 52 minutes, before Kyle Wooton doubled the lead just before the hour-mark and added another to wrap up the points.

Boden posted on Twitter on Sunday night: “Don't tweet much but... Sometimes you've got to hold your hands up and take it, it was a pivotal part yesterday the penalty in a big game. No one's more p***** off than myself especially coz I know what that game means but I will be working my b******s off to put it right!”

While Buchanan tweeted: “Poor result last night for us! We had our chances but wasn’t able to capitalise! Tough to take but we learn and be ready for the next game.. credit to all the fans who made the trip and for the amazing appreciation shown for Jordan Sinnott.”
