Nicky Law says new-look Alfreton Town side will take time to gel

“If I am honest, I think I hold my hands up and say that they came here and probably deserved the win,” said the Reds boss.

“They came here and had the better of the first 20 minutes after which we got on top of them through the central midfield players, but when we got it wide we didn’t have enough end product.

“The second half was nip and tuck and one goal was always going to win it.

“It was a decent finish, but if you really want to analyse the goal, we had the ball, three men waiting for the pass and we tried to thread it through to the front players and it got picked off. Their lad has finished well to be fair.

“When they had got the lead, we didn’t look like we had a goal in us. We had a lot of half-chances throughout where we won first ball from dead-ball plays and throws but it is disappointing again and we have just got to learn from it.

“I am sure we will be ok. There are frustrations of working with a young group of players and it is going to be a learning curve.

“Some of the players have never learned how to play meaningful football. They come out of these academies and have never had to play the game seriously.

“It is a culture shock and you either wake up and deal with it or you don’t. If you don’t, then you won’t do anything in the game.

“We set out with the sole aim to bring young lads in for who it is not all about money. It’s all about desire, we are in this to progress them both collectively and individually.

“We want to try and develop players and fund ourselves by selling them on. Yes it is going to be frustrating at times, but to be fair to the fans, I think they understand that it is going to take tim” ended Law.
