After a steady start to the campaign, the Reds chalked up a fourth successive Vanarama National League North victory on Tuesday evening when they beat Worcester City 2-1 at the Impact Arena.

With a quarter of the season now gone, the win catapulted Law’s side up to sixth in the table just two points outside of the play-off places.

“As I said all along, we would find out where we are after ten games” commented Law.

“We said early on we just needed goals and we are now getting them. We don’t look like we are going to concede a lot either.

“Jordan Robertson has now scored three goals in three games and he is only going to get better.

“I am pleased with where we are and where we are at, we have just got to keep going now.

“We are averaging 1.6 points per game which is not bad and if we keep that sort of average up we will be somewhere near where we want to be at the end of the season.”

Law had praise for his side’s resilience in the midweek victory which came after a stunning 30 yard first goal for the club from Ryan Wilson and a third goal in three games from striker Jordan Robertson. Goalkeeper Matt Duke saved a penalty for the Reds but after Lee Hughes pulled one back for the visitors, Alfreton stood firm to ensure three more points.

“It was another good performance, a good win from a tough game. Matt Duke has made a great save from the penalty, we did well” he added.

“We dominated for long periods. They (Worcester) had to go for it in the end which they did and they made it difficult for us but it is all about what we do, not anybody else.

“We have shown that we can compete with anybody and that is what we have got to do.”

The Reds now travel to Stockport County this Saturday for another tough test.

“Momentum is with us. They (Stockport) have had a couple of bad results and the pressure is on them. We will take nothing for granted, it will be another difficult game, as will Tamworth in the FA Cup the week after, but we have a good record against them.

“We will just go there after we have concentrated on the Stockport game. We are only looking at one game at a time.

“We are not looking at any league table, we didn’t when we were in the bottom four and we aren’t now either” ended Law.

ATFC Supporters’ Association transport for Saturday’s game at Stockport departs at 9.45am and seats can be booked by contacting Mark Thorpe on 07857 558401.
