The centre-half, who made 18 appearances for the Spireites on loan last season, joined the Clarets at the age of eight.

Now 22, the uncompromising defender’s new contract has a further year’s option in the club’s favour.

Anderson is currently at Burnley’s training camp in Evian ahead of the 2016/17 Premier League campaign.

He began his Football League career on loan at Carlisle United two seasons ago, before Danny Wilson brought him in to cover for the injured Ian Evatt.

The Burnley-born footballer formed a partnership with Sam Hird and was very vocal about his appreciation for both his defensive partner, and assistant manager Chris Morgan who put in a lot of work with him on the training pitch.

Anderson also voiced a desire to return to the Proact for a season-long loan spell, and although Wilson is known to be a big fan of the youngster, there has been no movement on that during the summer.

Chesterfield are said to be still in the market for a left-sided centre-half.
