National League clubs will vote on whether to end season

The campaign has been suspended indefinitely due to the coronavirus outbreak and no games have been played since March 14.

The National League board has come up with a proposal, which they recommend all clubs in the top three divisions approve, which is to cancel all fixtures up to and including April 25.

If the proposal is approved then the league will “proceed to a poll” to determine the outcome of the North and South divisions. This will be followed by a vote to determine the outcome of the National League season.

It has also been confirmed that the National League has received £2m from the Premier League to help clubs with the financial difficulties they are facing, but this is money they would have received at the start of the 2020/2021 season and is not extra cash.

Clubs in the National League will receive £58,333 and those in the North and South divisions will get £13,636. The money will be advanced to clubs next week.

The FA Council has now confirmed that steps 3-7 of non-league have been made null and void.

On Tuesday Chesterfield furloughed all players, staff and manager John Pemberton.

Pemberton has previously said he would like the season to resume when safe to do so but admitted he does not see how that will be possible.
