A source close to Tyson has told the DT that the former Nottingham Forest man “would love” to pen a permanent contract with Chesterfield.

However, the source said that any deal will take time given the current situation with a possible takeover looming and because of the coronavirus.

At the moment he is just concentrating on spending time with his family and keeping fit ready for when football returns, the source added.

Meanwhile, we understand that goalkeeper Ross Fitzsimons would be open to a move to the Spireites following his short loan spell this season.

Like Tyson, the 26-year-old has been told he will not be offered a new contract by County and will be a free agent after June 30.

The stopper only played 45 minutes in the win against Chorley but is thought to have made a good impression.

As it stands, after June 30 Town will only have one senior goalkeeper on their books in Luke Coddington.

The 25-year-old suffered a serious knee injury against Yeovil in January and was ruled out for the rest of the season.

The ex Huddersfield and Northampton stopper unfortunately suffered a setback in his recovery and then a scheduled operation had to be delayed because of the pandemic.

Earlier this week we reported that Shwan Jalal, 36, who is out of contract at the end of June, is keeping his options open but is still hopeful of being offered a new deal.

Defender Matt Tootle, who played three games for Chesterfield after joining on loan from Notts before getting injured, has said he has received a couple of inquiries from clubs after being told he will be released.
