The 37-year-old is currently on loan from fellow National League side Notts County until the end of the campaign.

The experienced forward, who has scored 125 goals in his career, bagged a 23-minute hat-trick against Ebbsfleet United last time out.

“One thing that we need to do is concentrate on what we are doing right now,” he said. “I do not want to look too far ahead in the future. If I am doing well I am doing well and we will see where we are at the end of the season.”

Tyson, who can’t be recalled by the Magpies, appeared to hint that his time at Meadow Lane was over.

On there being no recall clause, he said: “No, there is no going back there. I wish them all the best. They offered me a contract and things did not work out for one thing or another but that is in the past and just move forward.”

The striker said he is enjoying his time at Chesterfield and working under John Pemberton, who he got to know during his time at Nottingham Forest.

“I know Pembo from my Forest days even though he was mainly working with the youth team and reserves,” Tyson added. “He did take over a couple of games and I know him from that.

“He is doing a fantastic job and thoroughly deserved to get the job until the end of the season.

“Fingers crossed that we continue to progress the way that we do.

“Who knows at the end of the season what might happen.”

Tyson also played with Spireites legend Jack Lester at the City Ground and learnt a lot from him.

“I played with Jack Lester and I see his pictures everywhere and I know how much of a legend he is here,” Tyson said. “That is an honour in itself to say that I played with someone like him. When I played with him he was a quality player and a lovely guy as well.”

The FA is yet to make an announcement on how many teams will be relegated from the National League this season given only one club will be coming down from League Two following the knock-on effect of the collapse of Bury FC.

There is a possibility that only three teams will be relegated but Tyson says they are not thinking about that.

He said: “As a player I do not want to be thinking about only three going down so we can finish where we are.

“I won't settle for that and neither will Pembo and the rest of the lads.

“I will be disappointed if someone did say that because I will put them right.

“I am still a professional footballer at this age because I want to win things and I feel like I can still do it.”
