Mixed feelings for Nicky Law as Alfreton Town extend unbeaten run with Lincoln City draw

The Reds boss was delighted with another shut-out by his defence, which has now not conceded in 400 minutes of Vanarama Conference football, but he also felt his side could have had more from the game.

“I am disappointed not to have won it to be fair. It was a tough competitive game as you would expect, but I think we had the better chances,” said Law.

“They have had a couple of long range efforts but nothing to really worry about. We have had three good chances which fell to the person you would want them to fall to (Tom Shaw), but on this occasion he hasn’t been able to take advantage.

“It’s another point and another clean sheet and I think when you have conceded 70-plus goals like we have, then to do that (produce four in a row), particularly in the circumstances we are in, is very good.

“Jason Mooney has made a difference (in goal), Luke Graham and Bradley Wood at full-back have made a difference and Simon Lenighan has come in and done a good job.

“Overall, the team has worked hard defensively and 400 minutes without conceding at any level is good but we have got to continue to do that.

“You have always got a chance when it is nil against your name and there are so many times this season when, if we had kept a clean sheet, we would have won, because we have scored enough goals.”

The Lincoln game was the first of four successive outings at the Impact Arena, the second one seeing mid-table Chester visit this Saturday (3pm).

Meanwhile, Law had a word of warning ahead of Saturday’s home game against Chester who found themselves on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline against Alfreton’s relegation rivals Dartford on Tuesday night.

That came just three days after Welling United had won 2-0 at Lincoln and it is those kind of results which Law says his players might be extra vigilant about.

“Those results shows you just how unforgiving this league is and if you are not at it, teams will be beat you whoever they are.

“Chester have done ever so well this year, they have reaped the benefits of going to full time and it will be another tough game even though it is at home.

“We have just got to build on what we have done and try to get to that magic number whatever that’s going to be” ended Law.

Dan Bradley missed the Lincoln game with a chest infection but should be available again for Saturday’s game.

Meanwhile Alfreton Town FC have been advised by Bristol Rovers that the final fixture of the 2014/15 season at The Memorial Stadium on Saturday, April 25th is all-ticket for away supporters.

Alfreton have been initially allocated 143 south stand seating tickets which the club have been advised to be sold at the following rates: Adult £18.50; Seniors /NUS £10.50; Under 16 £9.50
