The 22-year-old was injured in Tuesday night’s game and having disclocated it before and required surgery while at Northampton, Town were worried it would be a long lay-off.

Boss Jack Lester revealed yesterday that the news was better than expected, and McCourt may even be in line for a place in today’s squad.

“He’s okay. He had a little run around today, we’ll make a late decison on him,” said Lester.

“It’s disclocated, he’s done it before.

“When you dislocate something, sometimes you get bits of tendons coming away with it, but it was very clean. It popped back in. He’s sore but it’s nowhere near as bad as we’ve thought.

“He’s in contention.”

McCourt has played 36 times this season for the Spireites, scoring six goals.
